Can ducted heating be installed in an existing home?
Often, yes. We check ceiling or underfloor space, access, duct routes and the position of indoor and outdoor equipment. Where a ducted layout is impractical, we can explain other ways to condition the rooms you need.
How do I choose the right size system?
Start with the rooms you want to condition, rather than a model number. Floor area, insulation, ceiling height, glazing, sun exposure and Wellington’s winter conditions all affect the selection. Our example systems are starting points; the final capacity follows an assessment.
What is the difference between standard and premium ducted systems?
Both can provide concealed heating and cooling. Product ranges differ in efficiency, operating range, dimensions, airflow and compatible controls. We compare the relevant manufacturer specifications for the actual system pairing and explain which differences matter for your home.
Can I control bedrooms separately from living areas?
With a suitable zoning design, rooms can be grouped or controlled as individual zones. Basic zoning controls where air goes. Temperature-based zoning also needs suitable sensors and controls. We plan the zones around the system’s minimum airflow requirements.
Can one room heat while another cools?
A typical single ducted reverse-cycle system runs in one heating or cooling mode at a time. Zoning can vary airflow and, with the right sensors, temperature targets within that mode. If your rooms need different modes at the same time, discuss that with us during design.
Does a ducted heat pump bring in fresh air?
A typical ducted heat pump recirculates indoor air for heating and cooling. Fresh-air ventilation is a separate design consideration. We can assess a ventilation or heat-recovery solution alongside the ducted system, including suitable airflow paths and controls.
How quiet will it be, and what will I see inside?
The indoor equipment is concealed where the building allows, leaving supply outlets, a return grille and the controller visible. Noise depends on the model, airflow, duct design and equipment location. We discuss these details before installation rather than promise a silent system.
What affects installation time and the work involved?
Access, the number of outlets and zones, electrical work and the complexity of the home all matter. We explain the proposed route, any building work and an expected installation schedule after assessing your property.
What should be included in my installation proposal?
